retail signage
breif
Design a cohesive in-store signage system for Z Gallerie that communicated clearly across core full price, markdown, and temporary promotional product categories, using a consistent visual language rooted in the brand's typography, color palette, and identity to create a seamless connection between the in-store experience, product packaging, and online marketing.
problem
Without a unified signage system, retail floor communication felt inconsistent and difficult for customers to quickly parse, making it hard to understand product stories, pricing tiers, or category context at a glance, which created friction in the shopping experience and undercut the brand's elevated aesthetic.
design intent
Develop a family of signs, from large-format brand story panels like the bold "Art First, Always" floor sign, to intimate product call-outs like the "Time to Unwind" tray card, to detailed collection guides like the Peyton silhouette and configuration card, each designed with restrained typography, white space, and brand-consistent layouts that felt premium without overwhelming the product.
insight
In a visually rich retail environment like Z Gallerie, signage works best when it enhances the story without competing with the product, which means the most effective signs are those that speak in the brand's voice, answer the customer's unspoken question, and disappear into the vignette as a natural extension of the space rather than a separate communication layer.
out come
The signage system gave Z Gallerie a scalable, brand-consistent toolkit for in-store communication that elevated the customer experience, reinforced the brand's editorial voice at every touchpoint, and created a clear visual hierarchy between full price storytelling, product education, and promotional messaging across all store locations.
